Our Story
In 2001, Cascade Communications opened as a cutting-edge communications firm for small businesses, events and nonprofits. Initially we focused on the food/beverage and entertainment industries working with some of Chicago's top venues and organizations. Soon after we started coming across entrepreneurs and their amazing small business ideas and decided "these are the stories we want to tell!"
Since then, we've helped small businesses across the country achieve positive local and national press, consulted on business management, growth and development as well as brand and other marketing activities, and become small business experts. As journalists, this is exactly where we want to be, telling the great stories of small businesses and helping entrepreneurs realize their dreams of success.
President and Founder Jennifer Fortney is a veteran marketing communications professional who has worked in media and with a variety of Fortune 500 clients, small businesses and nonprofits. She has been interviewed as a small business and PR expert by media, hosted panels, guest lectured and teaches workshops at SCORE Chicago on PR.
