Chicago, Ill. (December 2009) - Join the American Diabetes Association (ADA, www.diabetes.org) for its 6th Annual Care to Cure: A Sunday Brunch, March 7, 2010 at the Soldier Field United Club at 11:00 a.m. Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith and wife MaryAnne will, again, serve as event honorary chairs, and a special guest, who is living his dreams every day, will join them. Care to Cure: A Sunday Brunch is an annual fundraiser that benefits ADA research, programs and advocacy with a special opportunity for guests to support ADA summer camp for children with diabetes.
"There are approximately 150,000 children with Type 1 diabetes in the U.S. and the statistics continue to rise," states Nancy Harris, senior executive director of the ADA. "The ADA is the only organization in Northern Illinois that provides support to children with diabetes and their families through our unique camping program and our other youth initiatives," continues Harris. "This event is a great opportunity to send a child with diabetes to camp, and raise funds that will go towards finding a cure."
Diabetes Camp:
The American Diabetes Association's Diabetes Camps provide a special time for kids with diabetes-one of the best times of the summer and one campers always remember. At Diabetes Camp, kids discover they are not alone and enjoy a variety of activities, building friendships and most importantly, having fun! The American Diabetes Association is committed to providing a Camp experience for children with diabetes regardless of their family's ability to pay. See video.
